Rug Cleaning in Southside
Collection and delivery in Southside are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Southside is built from
The densest residential ground in the city, on the wooded slopes of Red Mountain between Railroad Park and the crest: period apartment buildings and converted houses around Five Points South, newer blocks near the university and hospitals, and terraced streets that climb hard.
A high-turnover, walkable neighborhood — medical and university households, professionals, and people who move every couple of years without leaving the postcode. Most of these rugs have arrived rolled in the back of something.
The Southside problem
Moving is what wrecks rugs on Southside, and almost nobody registers it as damage. A rug rolled tight for a move is fine; a rug folded is not. A fold is a hinge, and the foundation flexes at that exact line every single time somebody crosses it afterwards. Left for a couple of years, the crease is where the rug eventually splits, and a split foundation is a reweave rather than a wash. The second half is what happens between leases: rugs go into a storage unit or a parking-deck locker over a Birmingham summer, unconditioned, and come back with a musty base and sometimes moth activity in the folds. And because so much of this housing is upstairs with no lift, in-home wet cleaning is a particularly bad idea here — the water goes into the floor and, in these buildings, into somebody else's ceiling.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
