What Crestline is built from
One of Mountain Brook's original three villages, and the most family-dense part of it: 1930s through 1950s cottages and Colonials on tighter lots than the rest of the city, with a steady run of renovations and second storeys added on top of them.

An Alabama attic in July runs at the outside temperature and the outside humidity with no air moving through it, and that is the ideal environment for two separate problems at once: mildew in a foundation that was rolled up with any moisture still in it, and clothes-moth larvae, which want wool that is dark, undisturbed and left alone for months. Both turn up together, and both are found in September rather than in June. The prevention is dull — wash the rug before it goes away rather than after it comes back out, roll it with the pile facing outward, keep it off the floor, and put it somewhere the air is being conditioned.
